I give up!

Happy Fat Tuesday!!
I hope ya'll are celebrating and indulging on whatever you decide to give up for lint! I'm not catholic, but I have always liked the idea of giving up something as a sacrifice.
From the name of this blog you can probably gather that I would die without enjoy sweet tea.  I swear the people at sonic put crack in their sweet tea or something because I am addicted! So this year I am giving up sweet tea and...(drumroll)... negativity! The second one may be a little harder for me to master, but no more negative nancy pants here! I am going to be Super Sarah- glass half full, everything happens for a reason Sarah! Get excited, friends! MAT can't get me down! Fun Sarah is back!

Uncertainty

This weekend John came to visit and it was wonderful! The only thing that could have made it better was if the weekend would have been stuck in some sort of space time continuum and he didn't have to leave today.
{insert sad classical music}
However, on Sunday we had a delish sushi lunch date followed by a double feature at the movies! I love double features.  We saw "The Adjustment Bureau" with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt.  AWESOME movie... really makes you think about fate and why things happen the way they do.
The second move we saw was "Take Me Home Tonight" with Topher Grace and Anna Farris.  It was pretty funny, but the weird thing about it was that it was totally relatable to anyone who has just graduated college.  I absolutely did almost teared up a little bit at the end.
This is a super weird time in life.  I become suicidal hate the thought of uncertainty.  Some people love not knowing what the future holds, I do not.  I wan't to be able to plan.  I want to know where I'll be living 6 months from now, and what I'll be doing.  Sure I love spontaneity as much as the next guy, but being spontaneous and having your life have no specific destination are different.  The only thing I know is that I am going to walk across the stage May 14 with a masters degree and no idea of what to do next. Sometimes I feel like I'm alone in this, but hopefully there are some of you who feel the same way.
Sorry for the depressing post, I'm just kind of feeling lost and drowning today.  It's Monday, what can I expect.
Here's to hoping that you didn't have "a case of the Monday's" like I did.  Hope you have a great week!

I'll leave you with this lovely song by John Mayer.  Seriously how I'm feeling today.

So, today is Thriday

Hey ya'll! If you live in the real world (not educational world...because it is not from this planet) then today is Friday!! Yay! I hope you have had a great week and get to go let out some steam this weekend.
If you live in the insane funky world of teachers at Fayetteville then today is in fact NOT Friday.
It's Thriday.
To say we have had a cra-zy winter in Fayetteville would be an understatement!  We've missed 11 school days at the high school and the university even closed down one time before it even started snowing (which never happens).  One glorious snow storm we received 2 fantastic feet of snow! Most snow I've ever seen in my life!
So back to the world of teachers.  When you have a snow day at school it usually gets tacked onto the end of the school year.  Well, since we've had sooo many snow days they have decided to have school on some Saturdays.  Tomorrow is one of them.  Hey I could complain a lot because John is in town, Memphis friends are here and will probably be getting day drunk at the baseball game tomorrow.  Where will I be? Just teaching on a Saturday.  This is what dreams are made of, people.
At least we didn't have to go on spring break like some of the other high schools around here.  Miss Sarah Beth would have NOT been okay with that.
Regardless, today is Thriday.  Thursday because I still teach tomorrow and Friday because in all actuality it is Friday.  Don't worry ya'll, I'm still going to go out and play with my friends tonight.  And if I'm a little off my game tomorrow, I'll just blame it on the fact that it's Saturday :)

Song of the day:
"I Need A Doctor"-Eminem, Dr. Dre, Skylar Grey
I can not get enough of this song... Love Love Love the girl that sings with them, and Eminem has come a long way from bleach blonde "Chica Chica Slim Shady"...

all i do is win.

I hope ya'll have all had a fantastic Thursday! The weather is B-E-A-UTIFUL in Fayetteville today and it's Thirsty Thursday! Being a teacher, I haven't been able to be truly thirsty on Thursdays in way to long.  Am I growing up? Gross.
So today was pretty good.  I taught a lesson on listening and the kids seemed to enjoy it. However, I received some especially good news in my second hour class today.  Do ya'll remember that one teacher you had who had some sort of nuance they did that drove you bananas? Either they said the same word 1073957 times in 10 minutes or they constantly played with their hair, bracelet, necklace, etc... They did this said nuance so much that you and your friends made a game out of tallying how many times it occurred during a single class? I did this too many times in school.  I think we've all had that teacher. If you haven't well then praise the heavens because your sanity was saved. Being a teacher now I constantly catch myself saying things over and over and try to stop so I'm not a victim to the tally game.  I failed.
SO I taught my little lesson on listening to my second period class.  For the last few minutes of class I was letting them talk when they got quiet and one student raised their hand. The conversation went something like this:
Student: Ms. Duncan?
Me: Yes?
Student: You know how we were talking about teachers who repeat too much?
(yes I called all of you teachers out who do this)
Me: Yes...do I do that too?
Student: No, but today we did play the tally game with you.
Me:(partially nervous about what they were going to say) Okay...what did you discover?
Student: That you made us laugh 16 times today!
Me:I'M THE WORLDS GREATEST TEACHER!! Really? That's funny!

So there you have it, 16-18 year olds think I'm funny. So I guess you could say I'm (as Charlie Sheen would put it) "Winning."
I hope you are all "winning" at whatever you are doing today!
Here's my song of the day... you can never have too much John Mayer :)
XOXO,
Sarah Beth

March MADNESS!!!

And no I'm not talking about basketball.

Can we just talk for a minute about the crazy things that have been happening lately? Birds falling out of the sky, fish floating down the river, and Charlie Sheen earthquakes in Arkansas... really nature, really? The other day momma told me that under a tree near our house they have found 21 black birds paralyzed and dying.  Um...what? Okay so not only is that creepy and flat out disgusting, its sad and BIZARRE!!! If anyone knows why these crazy things are going down I would l-o-v-e to hear about it.

Speaking of crazy...I'm losing my mind. Literally, if you find it please tell it to 'come home soon'.  So for those of you who don't know I am currently in the Masters in Teaching program at the UofA.  Every Monday I go to campus for class then Tuesday-Friday I teach at Fayetteville High School.  Today is Wednesday.  This morning I died a little woke up, got ready for the day, and headed off to school.  Did I go to the high school? Nope.  I drove my happy self on up to campus and was seconds away from parking when I heard the lovely man on the radio say "Happy Humpday ya'll!"  Then it hit me.  TODAY IS WEDNESDAY! Wouldn't you know that I had definitely put on jogging pants, tennis shoes and a sweatshirt for what I thought was going to be a miserable intriguing day of college classes.  So with no time left to go change, I had to go to school...to be a teacher, a role model, a PROFESSIONAL, in sweats and an oversized hoodie.  Yep, I'm awesome.

I hope March is treating ya'll a little better than it has me so far.  Things are looking up: it's a gorgeous day outside, I get to see John and some friends this weekend, and there's Razorback Baseball in the air!
Can't get much better than that!

I'll leave you with this gem of a song.  If this doesn't get you ready for spring break in a couple of weeks, well then I just don't know what will! Enjoy!

XOXO,
Sarah Beth

Hey ya'll!

So I have jumped on the blog bandwagon decided to find an outlet for my crazy thoughts! Hooray! Like I didn't need one more thing to distract me from school :)
A little about me... I love to laugh (who doesn't?) and have a good time with friends. I am an only child so I like to be alone sometimes which totally weirds John out. I love my puppies Cash and Oscar and I wouldn't be anywhere in this world literally without the superstar that is my mother.  I talk to momma everyday on the reg.  I love and miss her so much!!  She informed me the other day that she hasn't seen me all year (the year 2011) which totally made my heart hurt! I'm going to see her on spring break and I couldn't be happier!

Well I think I'll keep this post short, sweet, and pretty irrelevant. It's wayyyy past my bed time and high schoolers have wayyyyyy too much energy... I'll leave you with some pics!
My first love Oscar. Such a model.

My new baby Cash (Ka$h).  He is John and I's love child.

The boyfriend <3

Wooooooo PIG SOOIE!
