a few things...

Good Morning, uh Afternoon?... I don't know what time it is.
This time change has hurt ya'll.
John started a new job today and had to wake up at 5:45 (which just two days ago was 4:45).
Gross.
Poor Baby.
BUT, being a good girlfriend, I woke up too and sent him on his way with a 'good luck' and an 'i'm so proud'.
So, with that being said, I've been awake since 5:45 and this girl isn't too happy 'bout it.

This morning puppy Cash and I decided to go for a good long walk.
(His sweet face talked me into it)
It's been raining like cray in Houston the past 3-4 days so he needed to get out of the house.

We walked for about an hour and a half at the park across the street from our house.
Poor puppy is worn out...

In the whirl wind that is my life, I totally forgot to mention that I've been blogging for a year!
I started this blog last March and good LORD what a difference a year makes.
This time last year I was drowning in research for grad school, missing my long distance boyfriend, and basically hating my life as a teacher.
Now, I'm long distance no more and living with John in Houston, survived grad school, but never want to be a teacher, no job, no idea what tomorrow will bring, but loving every minute of it!

Tonight John and I are heading back to the rodeo to see Zac Brown Band!

Happy Monday!!

ps. After tons of peer pressure from friends, I finally broke down and got a twitter account.  Follow me if you like random thoughts @saraheduncan

it's okay....

While I'm still coming off my high from seeing Blake Shelton last night...
I know, right.
I thought I'd link up with Neely and Amber for
It's OKAY...
~to cry at every concert you ever go to... I'm serious ya'll... EVERYone.

~to wish you'd given up something besides sweets for Lent because chocolate ice cream sounds SO good right now.

~to gain 5+ pounds because the Mexican food in Houston is THAT good...

~to immediately run to the closest gym because you did in fact gain 5+ pounds...

~to wish Houston would have a crazy cold snap because pool weather makes you hate yourself for the said 5+ pounds.

~to be silly... at any given time.

~to be happy with yourself despite the 5+pounds!

there may or may not have been a theme here...

What's okay with you today??
Play along!

WILW...Rodeo Edition!

Well hello there!
Long time no blog.
I'm back today linking up with this kind of love and the vintage apple for what I'm loving Wednesday and Oh! How Pinteresting!

{I'm Loving} the Houston Rodeo!
This is probably the number 1 reason I've been sans blog lately.

It all started off with the trail ride into Houston
I can't even tell ya'll how many cowboys and cowgirls rode up into Houston on horseback and covered wagons.
But I will tell you some of them came from over 300 MILES AWAY...on HORSEBACK ya'll....that's serious.
{I'm Loving} friends!!
The opening weekend of the Rodeo they have a huge BBQ cook-off to kick-off the month ahead.
A bunch of our friends got together for brunch before heading out for the day long celebration!
I contributed these lovely breakfast goodies to the party
So good and so EASY!
After brunch we all headed down to the cook off for a day of craziness and goooooood BBQ!
Fun crew!

This past weekend John and I had friends in from Memphis to partake in a little Rodeo action!
It was too much fun!

{I'm Loving} the actual Rodeo events!

It's so fun to watch the different events like bull riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling and my favorite: mutton riding, where the little 5 year olds try their hardest to ride sheep...so cute and hilarious.
ALSO...if that wasn't enough...
every night after the rodeo there's some kind of concert!
So far I've been able to see sexy Luke Bryan shake his thang
um...okayyyyyy!

And my favorites Eli Young Band bring the house down

Tonight I'm going to see Blake Shelton !!!!!!! and next week I'm going to see Zac Brown Band, Miranda Lambert, and Mr. Brad Paisley himself!
Country girls dream ya'll!!

So now ya'll know what I've been up to the past couple of weeks... just gettin in touch with my country roots!

In the meantime, I've also been pinning...lets be honest, there's always time to pin...

Loooove this skirt.

Yee-Haw!

It's Rodeo time, ya'll!
I am SO beyond excited for my first year at the Houston Rodeo.  From what I've heard from friends, it's sure to be an amazing unforgettable experience!

This coming weekend is the kick off cook off and if you know anything about me, then you know that this girl loves some food.
There's so many things going on for the rodeo that I don't even know what to talk about, but what I'm most excited about is the UH-MAZING concert lineup.
You can click on it to make it bigger, but some of my favorites are:
Lady Antebellum
Luke Bryan
Eli Young Band
Blake Shelton
Miranda Lambert
Jason Aldean
Brad Paisley
Um...all of these concerts in one week?!
Excuse me?!

You got one happy country girl right here, ya'll!

But before I can get too excited about all of this I have a dilemma...

I DON'T HAVE ANY BOOTS!!
I know...what?!
I MUST get some boots before Friday...
it's a do or die situation fo sho.

Oh and on a random note...I'm FINALLY getting my hur did tomorrow for the first time since NOVEMBER.
Sick.

Love you lots!

Weekend Wrap UP

Well I've been under the weather and coughing like a serial smoker so I kept it pretty low key this weekend.
Friday, John made dinner and we stayed in and watched a Storage Wars marathon all night long...exciting stuff let me tell you.
Saturday was a gross rainy day so we didn't get to do much outside.
Saturday night we went to a friends house to watch our Razorbacks get MURDERED by the Florida Gators...bless there hearts.
It's just not our year in bball.
Yesterday we went to a new church, First Methodist, here in Houston.  I really liked the message from the preacher, but the mixture of the choir and allergy meds I had just taken almost put me to sleep.  I like a more contemporary choir.  Like, clap your hands and sing a long, ya know.  Over all it was really good, and we might go back in the future.  We're trying out a few churches before we settle into a home church.  I get to choose next week.
I'm excited.
Last night we went to see THIS MEANS WAR.
It was cute and pretty funny.  John really liked it and they guys aren't bad to look at for a couple of hours.
Win-win.
I'd recommend it for sure.

We're gearing up for the Houston Rodeo next weekend... I'll write a post about that tomorrow.
It's kind of a big deal.

I hope ya'll had a great weekend and are having a great Monday!

I need a Wednesday kind of love

I woke up yesterday with a little sniffle in my head.
I woke up today not being able to breathe or swallow.
I've already had strep once this year...come on 2012 cut a sister a break!

I'm linking up with Jamie@ this kind of love for

{I'm Loving} our Valentines day.
John woke me up with breakfast and a lil somethin somethin from my main man Mr. David Yurman
He definitely got in trouble for these, but my goodness they're perfect.

Yesterday afternoon I had a second interview (eeeeee!) and when I got back home, these were waiting on me
Lilies are my favorite flowers.
Boyfriend did good, ya'll.

Last night I drug poor boyfriend to see The Vow
We went to Studio Movie Grill which is the most awesome theater I've ever been to.
They have a full menu and serve you dinner while you watch.
So fun!
And I even got John to admit that the movie was pretty good!
Win-win.

Don't worry, I got him some tools because he's "a man and thats what I wan't"...his words.

{I'm Loving} being a Texan!
Got my drivers license and everything...
It's official!
