Yee-Haw!

It's Rodeo time, ya'll!
I am SO beyond excited for my first year at the Houston Rodeo.  From what I've heard from friends, it's sure to be an amazing unforgettable experience!

This coming weekend is the kick off cook off and if you know anything about me, then you know that this girl loves some food.
There's so many things going on for the rodeo that I don't even know what to talk about, but what I'm most excited about is the UH-MAZING concert lineup.
You can click on it to make it bigger, but some of my favorites are:
Lady Antebellum
Luke Bryan
Eli Young Band
Blake Shelton
Miranda Lambert
Jason Aldean
Brad Paisley
Um...all of these concerts in one week?!
Excuse me?!

You got one happy country girl right here, ya'll!

But before I can get too excited about all of this I have a dilemma...

I DON'T HAVE ANY BOOTS!!
I know...what?!
I MUST get some boots before Friday...
it's a do or die situation fo sho.

Oh and on a random note...I'm FINALLY getting my hur did tomorrow for the first time since NOVEMBER.
Sick.

Love you lots!

Weekend Wrap UP

Well I've been under the weather and coughing like a serial smoker so I kept it pretty low key this weekend.
Friday, John made dinner and we stayed in and watched a Storage Wars marathon all night long...exciting stuff let me tell you.
Saturday was a gross rainy day so we didn't get to do much outside.
Saturday night we went to a friends house to watch our Razorbacks get MURDERED by the Florida Gators...bless there hearts.
It's just not our year in bball.
Yesterday we went to a new church, First Methodist, here in Houston.  I really liked the message from the preacher, but the mixture of the choir and allergy meds I had just taken almost put me to sleep.  I like a more contemporary choir.  Like, clap your hands and sing a long, ya know.  Over all it was really good, and we might go back in the future.  We're trying out a few churches before we settle into a home church.  I get to choose next week.
I'm excited.
Last night we went to see THIS MEANS WAR.
It was cute and pretty funny.  John really liked it and they guys aren't bad to look at for a couple of hours.
Win-win.
I'd recommend it for sure.

We're gearing up for the Houston Rodeo next weekend... I'll write a post about that tomorrow.
It's kind of a big deal.

I hope ya'll had a great weekend and are having a great Monday!

I need a Wednesday kind of love

I woke up yesterday with a little sniffle in my head.
I woke up today not being able to breathe or swallow.
I've already had strep once this year...come on 2012 cut a sister a break!

I'm linking up with Jamie@ this kind of love for

{I'm Loving} our Valentines day.
John woke me up with breakfast and a lil somethin somethin from my main man Mr. David Yurman
He definitely got in trouble for these, but my goodness they're perfect.

Yesterday afternoon I had a second interview (eeeeee!) and when I got back home, these were waiting on me
Lilies are my favorite flowers.
Boyfriend did good, ya'll.

Last night I drug poor boyfriend to see The Vow
We went to Studio Movie Grill which is the most awesome theater I've ever been to.
They have a full menu and serve you dinner while you watch.
So fun!
And I even got John to admit that the movie was pretty good!
Win-win.

Don't worry, I got him some tools because he's "a man and thats what I wan't"...his words.

{I'm Loving} being a Texan!
Got my drivers license and everything...
It's official!

Why I love him

So here it is... February 14th.
A normal Tuesday if you live anywhere except these here United States.
Here, Tuesday February 14 this the infamous 'day of love'.

I'm not here to be mush gushy about why I love John.  I love him for so many different reasons that it's silly to focus on all of them on just one day.
I love him everyday.
We're fun

He reminded me yesterday why I not only love him, I'm also so proud to have him by my side.

John bought me some James Avery bracelets for Christmas (yes, Christmas) and they were a little too big for my wrist.  So yesterday he finally found the time to take them back for a smaller pair.  On the way, he was getting off the interstate when he saw a homeless man holding a makeshift sign.  If you've ever been to Houston then you know that sadly there are homeless people everywhere.  Unfortunately, it's impossible to stop and help them all.  However, John said he felt something when he read this mans sign.  It simply said "Just Hungry".
So simple and so honest.
John went to the nearest McDonalds and bought a meal for the man.
I wish I could have been with him to see how thankful that man must have been.

When John finally got back to pick me up for lunch, I was wondering why he was a little late.
After he told me the story, I was so touched that I started to tear up.

You just never realize how blessed you are until you come face to face with someone who is going through such hard times.

It puts things into perspective.  I know I am currently in between jobs and constantly searching for my dream job, but I'm stable.  I have a home, I have a family.
I am completely blessed.

So remember that today isn't all about heart shaped boxes and chocolate covered treats.
It's about being with the people you love and being thankful that they're in your life.

My posts are usually much more light hearted than this, but it was just something I was thinking about and decided you all needed to read :)

And for all my single ladies out there...
and my personal fav...

Duh, had to throw those in there.

I hope you all have a happy Tuesday!

It's all a waiting game

Happy Monday, ya'll!
It's a rainy gross day here in Houston, but hopefully all of the rain will be outta here tomorrow because I'm SURE John has some major v-day plans in the works......
Duh.

But that's tomorrow...this is today, and today this girl had a BIG interview!

I was there for almost 2 hours talking to different people in the office.
I'm taking that as a good sign.
I don't want to give too much away and get my hopes up, but this job is AWESOME and something I'd be so excited to get up and go to every morning.

So if you pray which you probably should keep me in your thoughts!

On another note...
Can we all just stop for a minute and collect ourselves over how AMAZING and GORGEOUS Adele was at the Grammy's last night?!
I'd KILL to be her.

And can we all agree how tacky/ WRONG this one is
Um...excuse me?! No Ma'am.

I used to like you Nicki... now I think you're worse than Gaga...and that is saying a lot.

And I can't talk about the Grammy's without mentioning the loss of the amazing Whitney Houston.
Such a talent gone far far too soon.

I dare you to watch that without getting goosebumps.

I hope you all have an amazing Monday!

What do you read?

Why hello there!
In case you haven't rolled outta bed yet like me, guess what?!

And with that being said, I have another day of applying for jobs mixed in with doing a whole lotta nothin.
Ya'll, I've literally sat my booty on the couch everyday watching tv and searching away for jobs.  Yesterday, while my brain and body were turning to mush, I thought to myself:
'you know what? I should probably read a book or something.'

I can be studious sometimes.

I just finished the Hunger Games series
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Can't wait for the movie.

I'm not going to lie, I was super surprised that I liked these books.
I've never read nor seen Harry Potter or Twilight (I know, I know) because I DESPISE fantasy.  I'm sorry if you love it, but I think that it's just ridiculous.
So to keep with my hatred of all things wizardly and vampir-ey(?) I'm just going to say that The Hunger Games aren't fantasy but more drama-esque.
Go with me here.

Now I'm going to ask ya'll to do me a little favor... help me find a new book to read!

Leave me a little comment with your favorite book (new or old) and I'll definitely look into it!  I am by NO MEANS an avid reader so there's a pretty decent chance that I've never even heard of, much less read any of the books you might suggest.

I'm excited to hear whatcha got!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Go do something fun!

A couple of things...

1. Just had a phone interview for a social media marketing position with an upcoming company.

And we all pray.

2. I feel I get more valuable information from E! News than I do from Kathy Lee and Hoda.  Fact.

3. The coldest it's been this winter has been in the upper 40s and I'm still over it.  Come on summa summa time!

4. Living across the street from a park with a dog park may be the greatest thing about my house.

5. I've been loving Pinterest lately:

Just keep swimming...

**Warning this is kind of long, but I've got some recipes in here for ya so it's totally worth it*

2012 has SO not been my year. Besides my car being broken into, I didn't get the job I wanted...or the interview for the other job, and to make matters worse my computer hard drive crashed and away went all of my recent pictures and documents that I hadn't yet had a chance to back up on my external.... seriously ya'll.

It's been the opposite of a good year thus far.

But with that being said, not all things have been bad.  This past Sunday John and I threw our very first Superbowl Party with about 20 of our friends! I didn't realize we had so many friends in Houston already...we're so blessed.

First Cash and I enjoyed a little Puppy Bowl action

Then our friends started showing up and John and I quickly realized that we'll be eating hamburgers and finger food for the rest of our lives...
sorry about the iPhone quality.

I loved playing hostess and can't wait to have friends over again.  Every one who came brought something, but I was excited to make Momma's special turkey roll ups and some pizza roll ups that I found from Pinterest. Duh.

I'm going to give ya'll the recipes for both because I've been a terrible blogger lately and hey, you deserve it.

Here's the recipe for Momma's turkey roll ups...they're ALWAYS a huge hit:

What you need:
1 package of Turkey Breast
1 small container of Pimentos
1/2 cup of Pace Picante Sauce
A couple of Green Onions (more or less depending on how much you enjoy green onion)
8 Large Tortillas
Spinach leaves
8oz Cream Cheese

What you do:
~Let the cream cheese come to room temp and mix with Picante sauce and chopped green onion

~Spread evenly over tortilla

~Lay one row of spinach leaves and pimento down the center of the tortilla

~Cover with a layer of turkey (4-5 pieces)

~Roll the tortilla with the row of spinach and pimento horizontal so you will get a bite of everything when you cut it up and then place it in a dish.

~Repeat until cream cheese mixture is used up then cover the pan and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.  I made them a day ahead and let them sit over night because they're better the longer they can refrigerate.

~Finally cut up the tortillas into bite sized pieces and enjoy!

And for the pizza roll ups...which were also another huge hit and the easiest things to make EVER:
(sorry I didn't get to take as many pics of this process, but really....so so simple)
What you need:
Crescent rolls (number depending on the number of roll ups you want to make.  One can of crescent rolls makes 6 roll ups)
Peperoni (one package was perfect for 3 cans of crescent rolls)
Mozzarella string cheese (12 is plenty because you cut them in half)

What you do:
~Unroll and separate  the Crescent rolls
~Place about 5 peperoni on the fattest part of the crescent roll
~Place 1/2 of the Mozzarella string cheese on top of the peperoni

~Roll up like you would a normal crescent roll and place on a baking sheet

~Bake for 10-15 minuets (the normal time for crescent rolls)
~ Viola! Enjoy!

Super yummy, super easy, and you get to be like me and keep pretending you know anything about cooking! It's a win-win if you ask me.

So I know I said this before, but I'll say it again...I'm finally going to get back into the swing of blogging.  I just got my computer back and I'm ready to start a new chapter with it... RIP old hard drive.
 You will be missed.
